What PrePrompt doesn’t do (yet).

We’d rather you know the edges up front than discover them mid-task. Here’s the honest list.

It's an open beta

PrePrompt is early. Features can change, and things occasionally break. Support is best-effort with no formal SLA (see Support), and if the service is down we’ll post status and an ETA on preprompt.org.

Where it works

The Chrome extension adds the Rewrite button to four sites only: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. Other AI sites aren’t supported yet. Developer surfaces (the CLI, the Claude Code / Cursor MCP server, and VS Code) live on the developers page.

Because the button is injected into someone else’s page, a layout change on a supported site can break it until we ship a patch.

It improves your prompt, not the answer

PrePrompt rewrites your prompt to be clearer and more specific. It can’t guarantee the model’s response — the answer still comes from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity, which are outside our control.

It grades your prompt first and leaves an already-specific one alone, so sometimes it does nothing on purpose. It’s also not a chatbot and won’t write a prompt from a blank box — it improves what you typed.

It's AI, and it runs on our servers

Rewrites are generated by Anthropic’s Claude (Haiku today; a Sonnet option for harder prompts is coming soon on Pro). Like any AI, it can misread your intent or produce a weaker rewrite — that’s why Undo restores your original instantly.

It’s not a local or offline tool. When you click Rewrite, the text in the chat box is sent to our backend and to Anthropic to be rewritten. Exactly what leaves your browser, and when, is in our privacy policy.

Don't paste secrets

PrePrompt tries to catch obvious secrets — API keys, tokens, private keys — and won’t rewrite a prompt that trips the check. But that’s a best-effort safety net, not a comprehensive secrets or PII scanner. Don’t paste credentials or sensitive personal data into a prompt.

Quotas and credits

The Free plan is 30 rewrites a month; paid plans get more. Credits meter powered rewrites and reset monthly. Top-up credit packs are coming soon. Full details are on the pricing page.

Not built yet

A few things on the pricing page and roadmap aren’t fully live: cross-machine project memory (Pro) is rolling out, Team and Enterprise plans aren’t open yet, and the premium (Sonnet) model and more supported sites are still coming. Where copy says “coming soon,” take it literally.
