A credit is spent only when the engine actually rewrites. Clear prompts pass through untouched, and those checks never cost anything.

A credit is the unit we use to meter powered rewrites. A standard Haiku-model rewrite costs 1 credit. A Sonnet-model rewrite (Pro tier, coming soon) will cost 5 credits — Sonnet is roughly 5x more expensive on the model side, so the multiplier protects margin without us having to inflate the subscription price. Local checks (pass-through, secret scan, clarification) are always free and don't burn credits.
